We Don't Sweat- We Glisten.

It's Saturday! My favourite day of the week. It's a day of complete freedom from any (almost any) responsibilities.

Today marks the 6th day in a row that I have been working out and I already feel so great- it's crazy! I finally found a workout buddy and we have been hitting the gym left and right! Also can I just say that she is so awesome? It feels so good to finally have made a friend here in Utah! Our workouts right now include the typical cardio, weights, and even a "dirty dancing" hip-hop class (SO FUN!) Right next to our gym here we have also come across a yummy juice bar called Ivie. That will be our reward after working so hard everyday ;)  Today Weslie, Mikey (her fiancĂ©), and I all went on a hike and it was such a new experience for me on account of the snow and wind here in Utah. I honestly felt like we were hiking Everest and needed to stop and build shelter haha! We plan on continuing our healthy endeavors, although we will once in awhile cave and have pancakes. I'm pretty happy that I've managed to stick to my New Year resolutions so far (except for the pizza I may or may not be eating right now)- how are you doing?

I've included a few pictures from the hike and our juice date below.

BEFORE you scroll down and enjoy my beautiful photography (obviously a joke), I wanted to tell you all some of my favourite places to get workout wear. Going back to the gym after being out of the military and workout game for 6 months has been super intimidating and I've been really insecure about my body. Since I have been super ashamed of my weight gain and lack of physical activity, I  have been hiding my body in old tee shirts and pants, which honestly, is not helping my confidence. I figure that once I pull out some of my sexy(-ish?) activewear, it will make me feel a little better about myself while working out. It's going to take probably another couple of weeks until I can get to that point, but that doesn't mean I can't get excited about my favourite gym attire!

MY GO-TO ACTIVEWEAR SHOPS/BRANDS

1. LULULEMON (of course!)

2. MICHI

3. LORNA JANE

4. NIKE

5. BODYISM

6. TARGET

7. VARLEY

My workout buddy, Weslie, has also found some really great gym wear recently at FOREVER 21, so I may pay them a visit soon, too!

What are some of your favourite things to get moving in?

Go-Go Gadget!

Hello and happy weekend!

First of all, it's crazy that I am actually writing two posts within even a week of each other! I told you- posting more is one of my resolutions, now hopefully I can just stick with it. Life is busy, as we all know, and so it's important that we keep grounded and connected to what we enjoy to do. Something that makes it incredibly easy for us to do so is technology. Whether you are wrapped up into your music or you are sharing pictures with friends and family, whether you are plugged in or unplugged from the world, technology makes it all possible. I'm not saying that you should always be soaking up your time and attention through electronics, but when you do, you should use tools that you love!

Below, I have compiled a list of some of my favorite gadgets right now (although most of them are still on my wish list ;) Take a look and comment below if there is anything that you are absolutely loving right now that I should check out!

1) Lumee

Okay- I feel really silly admitting that I have this, but I think it's so cool! Lumee is a phone case that has LED lights lined up the sides of it, offering you the perfect lighting for a selfie. On the back of the case there is an on/off switch that also acts a dimming button so that you can control how much light you want in the picture. I love using mine- even if the lights totally give away that I'm having a "selfie" moment haha!

2) Muzik Headphones

Headphones are essential. I'm in the market for some right now and these headphones by Muzik seem really awesome. They are sleek, foldable, and wireless which are all a plus. I am looking for something light and wireless so that I can wear them while walking from class to class or while I'm in the gym.

3) Kreakfunk aHEAD Headphones

While looking for the perfect headphones, I came across the Kreafunk aHEAD headphones and fell in love just with the look. They are simple, stylish, and I love both the black and pink! Like I said before, wireless is a must and these look as if they would be light in weight. I'm not sure if the earpieces would be uncomfortable, but I will have to read the reviews! For now, I would say these are my number 2 on the list (after the Muzik headphones.) These headphones can be found at Urban Outfitters.

4) Ringly

Have you seen this?! I think it is such a cool idea! Wearable technology is really taking off right now. First the smart watches made a huge introduction and now there are RINGS! These semi-precious gemstone rings have the ability to link up to your phone through Bluetooth to let you know when you have an important notification. Through a downloadable app on your phone, you can set custom vibration patterns and colors that go along with different notifications. The ring box that comes with the ring also doubles as the rings charging station- so cool! The ring comes in many different colors and stones. Although Ringly is pretty pricey, I think that having one for nights out or during work could be really helpful so that you aren't attached to your phone. I want one of each please, but I do have to say that my favorite would be the "Dive Bar" color!

5) MIXIT Lightning to USB Leather Tassel by Belkin

A couple months ago I cam across this Belkin Lightning to USB tassel at Target and I thought it was really neat. I feel like I am always looking for these chords to charge my phone or upload things to my computer, so I love that this chord is always just right on my bag when I need it!

6) Withings Activite Pop Smart Watch

Smart watches are huge right now, and honestly, I have never been super attracted to them. Sure, having an Apple Watch would be awesome, but I don't think I would wear it all of the time. I would love to have it at the gym or when I am just running around maybe, but when I am trying to dress up somewhat I don't really like the idea of having a big hunk of a glass screen on my arm. With this watch that I found on Urban Outfitter's website, it completely solves that problem. This watch may not be as hi-tech as the rest of the smart watches out there right now, but I love how well it can go with a dressier look.

Technology is moving fast and it's so crazy to see what is being created as the years go on. I am excited to see within the next year what surprises will come onto the scene!

Improvement

Hi guys!

It has been a lot longer than I would've liked it to have been since I last posted- sorry! Life has been kind of crazy recently with all of the holidays and with Spring semester starting in school. Not to mention my binge watching of New Girl, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Desperate Housewives (I know...really?) I have been really slacking with taking photos, writing, painting, and crafting and it's really taking a toll on me. Though all of those activities bring me joy and relaxation through meditation, I haven't had much of any energy to even do the things I love.

When I say I've been tired... I mean that I've been exhausted physically, as well as mentally. I've been going through a period recently of anxiety and a little bit of depression, but it has been nowhere near what it used to be thankfully. Being 22, married, and in school can be really stressful, especially in an area that you still aren't very settled into. Money get's rough, schedules are crazy, and my "to do" list never seems to end. I'm not meaning to complain, just vent mostly. Aside from the little bumps here and there, I have been doing really well and have had more "good" days than "bad". Connor and I are so blessed with everything that we have, including each other, and we try our best to stay focused on the positives and on what we can do for each other to make things easier when they get a little hectic. He is seriously a lifesaver- I don't know where I'd be without him. Living with your best friend and navigating through life's highs and lows is such a crazy, awesome adventure.

I've been reflecting recently on some goals that I have (resolutions if you will) that can help me out of this slump for the new year and I've already started on a few of them!

1) Lose weight, be more active, and eat healthier. Since Connor and I have been together and I've been out of the Air Force, we have both fallen quite a bit behind on our health and exercise... I guess the "Honeymoon and holidays"excuse can't last forever! We have both promised to each other to get back at it so that we can be healthy and feel better about ourselves.

2) No alcohol. Alcohol has been in and out of my life and I want it to stay out. It can be hard at social events and at family gatherings, but I just can't feel okay with myself when I drink. I don't like who I am and it's bad for my health. I'm not saying it's evil- I just don't think it's for me. At least for now.

3) Be more spiritual. I've been slacking on my meditation and prayer which is huge. Prayer and meditation have been one of the biggest lifesavers for me and it's something I need to stay with to feel spiritually healthy.

4) Take more pictures with my DSLR! I've been saying this for years now, and I NEED TO DO IT! My iPhone has been the source of all of my documenting lately and I want to get more practice behind my Canon Rebel SL1.

5) Become debt free. The wedding, as a lot of you know from experience, was a huge expense. I don't regret it at all, because it was so beautiful, but Connor and I have really got to get past this. We have been working on budgeting and planning so that we can move on :)

6) BLOG MORE! Need I say more?

That's all I've got for now, which is plenty to work on! I think of new things all of the time to add to the list, and even though it isn't "New Year" anymore, there is always room for improvement in our lives.

What are some of your resolutions/goals?

I've added some pictures from over the holiday break below, enjoy!
